For TriNet clients · The window closed Oct 13
The window closed. Are you overpaying to stay?
About 1 in 5 TriNet clients left last year, most of them over price. Picking a plan by Oct 13 did not commit you to staying, and skipping it didn't end your options. Two things, both free: we track over 260 PEOs and put your renewal in front of a network of 120+, and we read your service agreement for the real date you can leave. Send the renewal and the agreement.

Read My Contract
Send your TriNet agreement. Get your real exit date in writing. Free.
Two TriNet agreements we have read say two different things. TriNet's FY2025 Form 10-K: "In most cases, our PEO clients may cancel these contracts with 30 days' notice to us." A newer TriNet Services Requisition Form (TriNet HR III-A, effective January 1, 2025, with the TriNet MSA): no termination "except upon written notice to TriNet at least forty-five (45) days' prior to the expiration of an Annual Period," delivered personally or by express delivery, with email accepted only for notices other than termination. Yours is one of these, or something else.
What we send back:
- Your notice period and the date it lands on for a December 31 exit.
- How notice has to be delivered under your terms.
- The anniversary that sets your annual period.
- What a late notice would cost under your own fee schedule (we never quote a figure in public, because yours depends on your headcount and your agreement).
- When termination takes effect and when benefits end (on the agreement we read, the last day of a payroll period, with benefits through the end of that month, per TriNet's Benefits Guidebook section 21.13).
We read what the document says. Your attorney decides what it means.
Where to find your agreement: whoever signed at onboarding usually has it in email; your TriNet representative can send a copy. Look for a Services Requisition Form plus Master Services Agreement (newer) or a Subscriber or Client Service Agreement (older).

Moving PEOs can be work, but we have a team of specialists that does almost all of the heavy lifting for you. With the savings on the table, the return on investment and the increase in quality are undeniable.
The notice clock
Why the date sneaks up.
Annual auto-renewal.
The agreements we have read renew for a year at a time unless notice arrives before the period ends.
The clock counts from your anniversary, not from the calendar.
A January 1 anniversary gives a December 31 period end; a different anniversary moves every date.
Delivery method matters.
On the newer agreement we read, email did not count for termination; the confirmed delivery date of a courier did. Plan the courier days early, not the morning of.
- If yours says 45 days
- Nov 16, 2026 (Monday)
- If yours says 30 days
- Dec 1, 2026
- If yours says something else
- That's what we'll find
Didn't submit by Oct 13?
TriNet's guide says your current strategy rolled over "including any rate increases, adjusted to the minimum contribution levels," and later changes "may be assessed a $2,500 service fee." That is about your 2027 plans. It does not change your agreement's notice terms. We make sure the renewal happens on your timeline and on your terms, not theirs.

For HR
On Nov 4 your people open their paychecks and find out what was decided for them.
Employee open enrollment for TriNet's January plan years runs November 4 to 18. Make sure it was you who decided. Send your renewal and one invoice and we'll put them next to what 120+ other PEOs would charge, before your team enrolls. If you're already at market, you'll have that in writing.

From Lucas
About 1 in 5 of TriNet's clients decided last year that the price was wrong. Send me your renewal and your agreement. I'll put the renewal in front of 120+ other PEOs and tell you your real exit date in writing. You pay us nothing. The PEO you end up with pays us, and TriNet does not. If staying is your best move, I'll tell you that in writing and we'll both move on.

Questions.
Does submitting lock me in?
No. Nothing in TriNet's published guide ties submitting a strategy to the service agreement, and neither does the newer TriNet agreement we have read. Submit the strategy you'd want if you stay; it's a fallback. Your service agreement governs leaving.
We already told our people about open enrollment.
Enrolling in the current plan and a January move are not in conflict when the move lands on the plan boundary; we show you the sequence.
Is this legal advice?
No. We read what a document says and tell you in plain English. Your attorney decides what it means. If you want us to work with your counsel, we're glad to.
Is this free?
Yes. You never write us a check. If you place with another PEO through us, that PEO pays us. TriNet does not pay us. If you stay, we make nothing and you keep the read.
What do you need from us?
The export to start. A real quote later needs your census, headcount by state and your renewal date; we ask for those after the read, not before. Happy to sign an NDA first.
Will TriNet know we asked?
No. Nothing you send us goes anywhere until you tell us to shop it.
Can we still move for January 1?
It depends on your agreement's notice date and on how fast quotes and underwriting run. If the honest answer is "stay this year and be ready for next," you'll hear that from us first.
The window closed. The decision didn't.
120+ PEOs fight for your business. Your exit date in writing. Both free.
